Tim Swindon, Crowncon Director — on-site SE Bayside Melbourne
Meet Tim

Started at 14.
Still on-site
every build.

Building isn't just a business for Tim Swindon — it's been his life since he was a teenager carrying materials on-site after school. Seventeen-plus years later, nothing about that dedication has changed.

Tim's Story

"I started because I believed
families deserved better.
That belief hasn't changed."

My love for building started at 14, after school on a construction site — watching multiple trades come together to create something from nothing. It was hard work, long hours, and I thrived on every minute of it.

By 17, I was deep into my apprenticeship. I was honoured to win the Most Outstanding Apprentice award — a milestone that told me I was on the right path, but also set a standard I've been trying to live up to ever since.

I started Crowncon because I'd seen what volume building looked like for families — the handoffs, the surprises, the sense that the builder had already moved on before the keys were even cut. I wanted to build something different. A small team, a personal process, and a builder who picks up the phone.

More than 17 years and dozens of homes later in SE Bayside Melbourne — that's still how we work.

How We Work

Three things we never compromise on

These aren't values on a wall. They're the things our clients notice first — and what they tell others about us.

Communication

We hold weekly client meetings throughout the build. Not fortnightly, not monthly — weekly. You always know exactly where your home is at and what's happening next. No news is never good news on a building site.

Tim is also directly reachable between meetings. Not a project manager you've never met — Tim himself.

Quality Assurance

Every stage of the build is checked against our quality assurance checklists before the next stage begins. Not because a regulator requires it — because Tim's name is on the home, and that means something to him.

Premium inclusions are standard: Caesarstone, Fisher & Paykel, James Hardie, Smeg — because the finish matters as much as the structure.

Design Support

Every Crowncon client receives a complimentary interior design consultation through our Gallerie Design Studio partnership upon contract signing — because getting the finishes right is part of the build, not an afterthought.

We also engage early in the design process to make sure your plans are aligned to a real budget before you commit to anything.

Beyond the Build

The same qualities that get you to Everest Base Camp in winter deliver a home in seven months.

When I'm not on a building site, I'm exploring with my young family. My wife Simone and I trekked to Everest Base Camp in winter — a genuine test of perseverance, planning, and the ability to keep going when things get hard.

That experience reinforced what I already knew about building: the outcome is a result of the preparation, not the luck. You plan the route properly, you account for the hard parts in advance, and you don't cut corners because you're tired.

I bring those same qualities to every Crowncon project. The families we build for deserve a builder who thinks that way — who shows up, takes the hard conversations early, and doesn't disappear when things get complicated.

I also show my young boys what we do — because a family business built on values is worth passing down.

Tim (and the team) were amazing! So easy to work with, very proactive and super organised. Also as a bonus they are extremely family friendly, always made time and allowances for the kids and the dog! The work they did for us is so much better than we ever imagined. 10/10 would recommend!

We had a great experience building our house with Tim. He was super easy to deal with, really professional with amazing communication. We preferred to have a builder with experience in an actual trade so Tim's hands-on approach and knowledge made a big difference when it came to design decisions!

Tim and the team are brilliant! Fantastic quality. Great communication. Really easy to work with. What stood out was Tim's personal involvement — he wasn't just managing from a distance, he was on-site and across every detail. Couldn't recommend more highly.
